I am going to replace the module under the distributor and the coil that sits above it on my 3.0 4 cylinder. It is the EST type.

The Serial number is 0L614291

Is there anything I need to do prior to taking the old one off and putting on the new one?

I am also going to replace the coil.

All parts are Mercury.

Thanks

Re: Ignition module installation

While not mentioned in the Merc manuals, when you remove the old module, clean all the old heat sink compound off, and be sure to use new compound on the new module. It's needed to properly dissipate the heat from the module.

You should be able to find it at about any auto parts store.
