Hey guys so I have this boat with an early 70's mercruiser 140hp 3.0L and last weekend when I was on the lake just cruising the motor just suddenly shut down. the motor would turn over but would not fire so when I finally got back to land after being towed in I started taking a look at it and found I was not getting spark after some investigating I found that my ignition wiring harness was to blame since the motor is so old it's very hard to find the right replacement...hell it's hard to find anything for this boat. I was just wondering is it possible to make a homemade harness and if so are there any how to videos out there

Change it out for a Deutsch connector.

on this page you can get a later Mercruiser harness. It would require a boat harness too. But if the engine is fine otherwise...

holy crap they have it thanks
A full harness is a 100 bucks while the connector achris advised for 20. If the wires are ok and only the connection broke I'd go with the Deutsch Connector. They are waterproof and stouter than the connection that is on your engine harness.
