Hi. You can on a chrysler, but the problem I had was I couldn't mount them and put the cover back on. I just went to autozone and got a couple of cheap 12 volt coils and a couple of ballast restistors. My 45 ran real well for a tank or two of gas, it just looked rather odd with the cowling off.
Just ask for "Ballast Resister". Depending on your age, cars ysed to have a ceramic block mounted on the firewall. These add a bit of resistance to the circuit and keep the coils from frying.
