Idles but won't rev faster

I have a 9.9 Johnson, G03997995, that was stored over the winter and will start up just fine and idle - but will die when I give it more gas. I can keep it running at higher revs if I depress the choke button every 10 or 15 seconds, otherwise it dies.<br />Any ideas? Is there a jet that could be clogged and would a gas additive help?<br />Thx

Check the vent on your tank to be sure it is open and clear. Check fuel line (especially primer bulb) to be sure all is soft and pliable and no cracks. If all that is good then your fuel pump probably needs rebuilt.

Tear the carb down and give it a thorough cleaning. Soak it in a suitable carb cleaner for several hours. Rinse it with aerosol carb cleaner blowing it through each and every orifice/jet/passageway. Blow out with compressed air. Rebuild with a carb kit.
