I have a 55hp 1977 johnson. i ran it for a couple hours first idle then ran at high speeds for about 10 minutes then at idle for about 45 minutes and finaly at full speed for 5 minutes before idleing to dock about 2 minutes. it ran great the whole time but when i tried to start it again it would start but not stay idling. note that i did stop and start the engine a couple times in between.
