Hi,

I’ve done a ton of research, read the manual, and I’m still slightly confused. I set the idle timing and max timing by following the manual and set it to spec but my idle is still around 1400 rpm. The manual and forums say to adjust the screws on the carbs, but when I do that I don’t notice anything substantial. I had the screws set to 1 1/4 out, moved them to 1 1/2 out. Should the idle increase or decrease as they are turned outwards?

Idle RPM is set by a screw that moves the throttle arm. You may also need to adjust the throttle cable to push the throttle closed more.

Once the idle pickup and max spark advance are set, leave them alone, and adjust throttle opening to set idle RPM.

leave ALL linkages and stops alone after you do tha link n sync..nothing on tha carbs or linkages used for settin idle tha only screw ya turn to adjust idle rpm/speed is tha 10/32 on tha timin' arm.... its right above tha bolt that holds tha timing/throttle arm on tha motor.. this needs ta be done with tha rig in that water and in gear.. set rpm/speed to what ever makes you and tha motor happy..manual numbers don't mean a thing when it comes ta what you want for idle rpm and speed... best ta pay no attention to 'em after ya get tha motor runnin'..

tha screws on tha carbs are for "tweakin'(fine tuning) tha carbs only....
