Never fails that when I have the boat in tow, people who are merging into highway traffic will maintain the same speed as me.

A-FREAKIN-MEN!! I was just complaining about this to someone while towing on Saturday! What the heck are they expecting to happen when they come alongside my trailer and ride there as the end of their lane comes closer and closer?

A few weekends ago I was driving home from the lake around 9:00pm. I was about five miles from my home on a two lane rural windy road. The traffic was light, and there were two cars in front of me on a two lane road (no passing) zone. I was pulling a 22? bow rider with an 8.5? beam doing about 40MPH. Suddenly I hear the racing of a big pick up trying to pass me. He laid on the horn and yelled some profanity at me as he passed my window. He obviously underestimated the length of my rig and didn?t see there were two cars directly in front of me.

That is when I got a shiver down my spine. As he was halfway clear of myself and the cars in front of me?A semi came from the other direction. The pick-up driver swerved onto someone?s front lawn, taking out 3 mailboxes and some shrubs.

I hate to see somebody have an accident. I hate the sound of shrieking tires as you wait for the impending metallic bang.

I went home and disconnected the trailer and went back to the sight of the accident. There was the pickup with a wrecker, looked like a broken axel.

I know it?s not right?but all I could think was: JUSTICE.

So I have to adjust my speed or change lanes for these people who never learned how to merge.

Is there some particular reason it's so hard for you to change lanes with your trailer? I always stay to the right but move over to the left (if it's clear) any time I'm approaching a merge lane.

Yes, its very hard to change lanes when there is a steady line of high speed traffic to your left. And that is often the case on the major highways in the greater NY area.

With there being entrance and exit ramps every couple of miles, riding in the right lane is not easy. I prefer to ride in the center lane where the merging and exiting traffic doesn't impact me as much, but then people get annoyed that I'm only going 60 and start flashing high beams, etc. Lately I just ignore them. Especially with the hard top on the boat, I can't even see them! LOL!

Thats what I do, relax, drive at a speed of my choice, turn the radio on.
Stay out of the exit lane .

people who are impatient have a problem, they want to give their problem to me, but I refuse to accept their "gift". Its just that simple.

I remember coming home from NH one Sunday nite, traffic was heavy as we got near Boston and a car cut in front of a 20' boat on a trailer, the trailer had to brake sharply , he was alongside me and he hit the horn at the car in front , he was boiling mad and went after the car....with a cabin boat ! as if he could catch it or do anything if he did. I was doing 65 and the trailer was passing me, whats he doing trying to drive as though he isn't towing a boat?

I thought " ok so yeh the car driver is a jerk, but whats your excuse"?

Anytime I think I can change someone else, I'm playin God.
Theres a lot of that goin round.
I find a great freedom in letting jerks be jerks.

I can see where the weight would be a problem, but I don't understand what's so rough pulling a 41 inch camper as long as the truck can handle the weight.

I drive for Waste Management and believe me I see these idiot drivers every day.
I know we all complain about the not too smart boaters (trying to be nice) at the launch, but that is nothing compared to what I see on the road every day.

Oh, and for those of you that aren't aware when a Garbage truck is attempting to back up don't cut behind it to get around.
Or pass on the left when a vehicle has his left turn signal on.
I know you probably think I am exaggerating but I'm not this happens several times a day, every day

One thing that did give us some relief here in Michigan the "slow down to get around" law finally passed.

Treat any stopped Garbage truck as you would a construction crew because the same laws apply to both now.

If everyone drove the speed limit and left room between car and trucks and
not tailgate it would be fine. I like the morons that see you are trying to move over and they speed up so you can't get over.
