Never fails that when I have the boat in tow, people who are merging into highway traffic will maintain the same speed as me. They see I'm towing a boat, but make no effort what so ever to speed up or slow down when merging into traffic. So I have to adjust my speed or change lanes for these people who never learned how to merge. I guess they don't realize I can't just change lanes at will, or easily speed up.

Oh well. Idiots are all around me.

To paraphrase the kid in "THE SIXTH SENSE" ......"I see stupid people....only they don't know they're stupid".

My own personal defense mechanism is to assume the other person is an idiot until they prove otherwise by their actions.:D

Well it would probably blow your mind and you would crash into the guardrail if somebody was courteous;)

There all idiots. I love the ones that speed up just to get in front of you just to slow down. This relay ticks me off especially when im approaching a hill.

As a truck driver, I have to suffer this fate several times each day! Our truck fleet is governed at 62mph (for insurance purposes), so it sucks even more.

What I hate is when I start to pass and they then speed up while you look stupid impeding traffic (doing a negative warp speed 62 in a 65).

What's fun is a soccer van pulling a bass bote.........with a train horn.

I might have caused a few messed up seats.

I have a profound belief that these inconsiderate morons follow me where ever I live. I thought that the drivers in Phoenix were bad, until I moved to Miami, these idiots take being morons to a whole new level. Now, they followed me to Las Vegas and joined with the brain dead stoned out of their mind California drivers (not all CA drivers fit the profile).

Almost ditto!

I routinely drive between Ocala, and clearwater, (3hour run). I pull a trailer with me almost every time. (Either my boat, ATV, or utility trailer). The speed limit on the interstate is 70MPH with most people doing at least that, or 75ish...

Of course most means that there are always some who go 65, 60, even 55, etc. Now don't get me wrong, but I don't really care how fast or slow you go, just stay your slow moving arse in the right lane!!!!

It sad that I can run a 30 year old POS truck, pulling a 30 year old POS double axle trailer and still pass you... but what I HATE is that when I do try to pass, they do what you said, they speed up like they are offended or something... then I have to really try to stomp on it to finish the pass or give up slow back down, and return to the right lane. OF course by this time, the traffic has backed up behind me because my old truck takes forever to build some momentum to pass, and when I fail and go back, the entire line of traffic gives me the evil eye for holding them up! :(

Oh, they know what to do but they can't be bothered to do it because it doesn't benefit them. I don't mind mistakes while driving everyone can make them what angers me is discourteous drivers.

Fishrdan's law of traffic:

#1 You won't see a slow car for 100 miles :)
#2 As soon as you get to a No Passing Zone a slow vehicle one pops up out of no
#3 As soon as you get out of the No Passing Zone there is too much traffic in the opposing lane to pass so you are stuck:mad:
#4 when you get to the next No Passing Zone the opposing traffic lane is free and clear,,, but you can't pass because you are in a No Passing Zone
#5 As soon as you get out of the No Passing Zone there is too much traffic in the opposing lane to pass so you are stuck:mad:
#6 when you get to the next No Passing Zone the opposing traffic lane is free and clear,,, but you can't pass because you are in a No Passing Zone

And so forth, so on and such.......

There's the opposite too, when you're trying to merge and doing the speed limit and the only other vehicle going the way you're going won't change lanes to let you in. That happens a TON around here. Maybe it's just me but when I'm on one of my bikes I don't like taking chances blowing by someone to merge or slowing and crossing two lanes to get by them.

Re: Idiot motorists are all around me.

This is from the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (formally the DMV). Without a doubt, the motorist entering a highway is required to yield to traffic on the highway:

Highways, parkways and turnpikes are high-speed (up to 65 mph) divided roadways and generally have multiple lanes. Traffic on each side of the divide will travel in only one direction. There are no direct intersections. Motorists enter these roadways by way of acceleration lanes, which are extra lanes at highway entrances used by motorists to speed up to join the flow of traffic. A motorist must yield to traffic already traveling on the main road before moving into the proper lane.
Keep the following points in mind when entering a highway, parkway or turnpike:
  • Obey posted advisory speed limits (if any) at the entrance ramp.
  • Speed up to the flow of traffic when leaving the acceleration lane.
  • Avoid coming to a complete stop in the acceleration lane.
  • Yield to traffic and enter the right-hand lane when safe.

I wish more people knew how to merge into highway traffic.

Maybe they're from Saskatchewan lol

Up here they teach that when you're on the main road that it's courteous to change lanes when safe to do so to allow a person to merge in safely. If you're unable to safely switch lanes then yes, the person merging must yield. The problem I always see is people who get up to the speed they want to travel at on the main road rather then the posted speed limit, while everyone on the main road is already going the same speed as the person merging. I notice a LOT of people never shoulder check either while getting close to the main road and make an educated decision of what to do before it's to late to do anything but hammer the brakes. I think half the population of our little city would be wiped out if they ever tried to drive the 401 in the GTA or somewhere like Chicago/New York/LA.

Having driven many a mile on Saskatchewans highways and byways my favourite sask driver is the farmer in the 72 chevy pick up truck, orange of course. Not in any particular hurry, just goin to town. Don,t wanna put his lights on cause that'll probably cost him money. Can see just fine driving into the sun with no sun glasses, 70 years of practice drivin a tractor the same way, just squint. Then theres the folks in their brand new Oldsmobile, never made the change to metric, nosiree, drove 60 on the highway all his life and aren,t these new cars quiet compared to the old truck Martha?

My apologies to all flatlanders who don,t understand my references here, that was me that just passed you.:) Go Green!

You should have been more general... not always a chevy pickup lol but you can definitely tell who's a farmer and who's a city person. Unfortunately though, some city folk around here drive like they belong driving a combine in the field. Born and raised here on the flatlands and like Mark said... Idiot motorists all around.

Re: Idiot motorists are all around me.

Used to have a guy ride my bumper everyday to work, same white chevy, didn't matter when I left. One night a deer jumped out in front of me, and I got a new bumper, tailgate, and a hitch.
