Hi everyone!

I just bought my first boat! Woo hoo!

....problem is I don't know what it is.

I bought it off a guy who thought it was an 18ft 1977 Steury V518. However I believe it to be slightly different. It is a Steury as the name is lettered on the side and on the registration, but another badge in a different location on the side says 1900. With some mild googling the JD Power website does show in 1977 Steury made an 18ft cuddy cabin 1900. My problem is this - the limited photos I can find of a 1977 Steury shows the cabin and the hull lines all different. My boat seems like it'd be more of a 90's boat than a 70's boat. I have also found out that Steury went out of business some time in early 80's. This leads to another problem, on the registration is the HIN and with a look-up it comes up as invalid as the numbers/letters seem to be out of order, or, it comes up as Stealth Craft Custom boats. I called Stealth Craft and they seem to think the HIN number comes up with them due to the code within the HIN was reassigned to them after Steury went out of business. I don't see on the transom or anywhere else yet the HIN number to confirm if there was a typo or not on the registration.

Does anyone have any insight to this zany mystery? Zoinks!

looks similar to a 1978 Steury 1900 that I found googlin. the HIN should start with SRC as the MIC code

most HIN lookups wont deal with the early 11 digit HIN of the Steurys

also, most of the I/O Steury's i saw online had OMC stringers.

like this one in the iboats for sale area https://boats.iboats.com/1978-steury-s-1900-rab/2170235.html

There is a whole line of 1900's, however each one would have a specific designator, like your V518, or V415

you bought it, you have paperwork for it.

My friend had a new 25 foot Steury, in 1976/77. It had a MerCruiser, but had different lines then the picture supplied. Not sure that helps.

Thanks for all the info!! The boat is going to be a fun project. I just gotta find a motor to hang off the back and I'll be in business ;) thank you all again for all the input. I'll post up on here in the spring with some photos when I get to working on it!

Looks like a fiberform a little , but many boats in the 70's and early 80's had similar styles
