Hi, I need help identifying the year and model number of this 45 hp outboard chrysler motor. The identification plate has rusted threw and can not read model number or serial number. I looked all over motor to see if model number was stamped somewhere on motor but did see a model number.
The hood/cowling has 45 hp on it, and say alternator on it. The hood part number is #366712
The motor has one carburetor on it part number #wb11b.
The motor has 2 spark plugs. The spark plugs in motor are part number #B7HS-10. From what I read the gap should be .04 on spark plugs
The motor does not have a distributor on it, each spark plug is connected to an ignition coil.
On the cylinder head where plugs screw into is part number #434518
Another reason why wondering the model number is so that I can determine if the ignition is Magneto Ignition, Magneto Ignition with alternator, or battery ignition with alternator.
The hood does say alternator on it so assume one of the alternator options.
The motor has electric start not pull cord start.
The motor does not have electric tilt/trim.
I tried comparing motor to diagrams of the different motors on the marineengines.com
thanks for any help

Your engine is a 45Hp with battery ignition and alternator.
The magneto model did not have alternator because the ignition coils are mounted under the flywheel.
Looks like the year is about 1970 until 1973 but a pic of the hood with the decals would be great.
It also has the old style fuel pump so it seams to be before 1974.
Chrysler decal with white background and numbers in blue are from 1969 and 1970.
Chrysler decal with black background and numbers in red are from 1971-1973.

Someplace on the block is a foundry stamp. The stamp could be round with the year in the middle of the stamp. Most times its on the stbd. side or possibly under the carb on the intake manifold.

here are a couple more pics of motor. I painted that part of the cover white in second two pictures.
Would this motor be considered a Chrysler Force style motor?

If the hood is the right one the engine is from 1971-73.
It is a Chrysler engine, after Chrysler sold out the OB manufacturing and US Marine took over they named it Force.
But all models were basically Chrysler engines with another name.

It is a long shaft engine.
You can se the extension part bolted on between the LU and the mid leg covers.

Force came about in the80's when Bayliner bought them.
This is all Chrysler.
If you can find a parts diagram??? they usually show the drive shaft housing and it usually includes the extension in the pics. The motor without the extension is15" add another
5" for the extension.

I have a bin of old parts if you need something?
I don't sell them, I give them away if you donate the $$ to a local animal shelter. I pay the shipping as my part.

Thanks for replies, my next step is figuring out the shift and throttle ends I need for motor and shift box. When purchased boat did not shifter control box. I bought a chryler control box off ebay. Well after I do a compression test, plan on changing lower unit fluid with 80w-90 gear lube.

You will need Morse, Teleflex 33C or equal remote cables, they will fit.
In the remote control box you just thread the ends in to the connectors but at the engine you will need the special connectors for Chrysler/Force engines.
One is shorter and is for the shifter.
You slide the collar back and just put it over the ball joint.
The one for the throttle is longer and have a spring load for the connector and you should have it pre loaded about 1/4 in to the ball joint.
There are some connector at Ebay for sale.

Jerryjerry05. we have been looking at getting a dog. I have a friend that shelters rescue dogs could ask her for a place to donate. kind of annoyed I dont have exact model number for motor. more reasearch.

Hey Nordin can you tell from my pics if I have the Ball Joints that you mentioned that the cables connect to? I feel like from videos I've seen mine must not be on there or was different throttle and shift connector on motor.
Another Question is the length of cable I know it can be longer and can hid cable so will go on the long end but was a little confused on measuring cables. Old cable total length 137 inches. one end to what i think it spot 9 inches, on on other end of cable was 10 inches with no connection.

Also do you know what screw I would use to mount cables in motor. I don't want to go testing screws and mess up threading if you happen to threading pitch. I messed up threads before better.

Here is a link to an overview of my boat remodel. Its on Instructables that is where I keep all my notes on my boat remodel.

Can not se in the pics if the ball joints are there.
They should be at the same side as the fuel pump and close to the pump.
There are some videos at Youtube by mweverett how to adjust and set up the remote control.
Search "remote control Chrysler outboard" at Youtube and they should show up.
