Re: ideas for securing bow of boat to trailer
The problem is all typical methods of securing a boat to the trailer only keep it from sliding backwards off the trailer, nothing but the bow eye being under the bow stop keeps it from going forward. All the chains, turnbuckles and straps won't help much because they all pull forward and become looser as the boat moves forward while slowing down fast. In a very fast stop the boat needs to move forward several feet for them to become tight again, at that point the boat has so much momentum all these safety devises instantly fail. You need to install a securing device that pulls from the bow eye (or someplace) reward so in an emergency stop they at least have a chance of keeping the boat on the trailer.
