I need a trim/tilt assembly for my '83 115 evinrude, I can find several part numbers but I'm not sure what I need. I see several on ebay that look exactly like the unit I have, is this good enough? As long as it looks exactly same will it work? I see about three different style of units on ebay.

Thanks

These units do have a similar appearance. The big thing for you to watch out for, is the motor. Early trim units had a three wire motor. The factory change over to the two wire system occurred mid year in 1981. OMC made both in 1981. Yours is considered a "later/newer style" model, with a two-wire motor. You are best to replace your unit in kind with a 2-wire motor setup so that it is compatible with your existing electrical trim relay box.

Rare to need to replace the whole unit. Are you sure you don't just need a new motor? Or perhaps a relay or switch? What is or isn't happening with yours?
