I put a 1/2 of a can of Sea Foam into each gas tank. Engine was getting harder to start. Finally would not start. Pulled outlet Primer Bulb hose off. Squeeze the bulb. Will not build up pressure correctly. O K need a bulb. Then take the small gasoline filter apart. Looks milky. Smell it . No gas smell. Taste it. No gas. pour onto water no gas or oil sheen.
Took both tanks to my marina. 5 gallons of contaminated gasoline at $ 40 a gallon to dispose of. Do it. Also ordered a new bulb. This season is adding up.

That sucks. I try to keep fresh fuel in my tank as much as possible. I use ethanol free gas in my boat . I have to drive a little ways to get it but worth the hassle.

Old/contaminated gas serves me well as weed and brush killer. Spray the brush or weeds only and not the ground and no harm done except to the weeds or brush.Charlie

When I was kid we lived on a dirt road and I remember my grand farther dumping used oil in the road to keep the dust down. His theory was that’s where it came from in the first place.
Of course this was in the 60’s. You would likely go to jail for doing that now.

What was the gasoline contaminated with? Sounds like water.

Have to figure out how the water got in there. Portable cans have a vent on the cap, it lets water in if left open.
My neighbors pontoon had water issues twice. Got it all cleaned out and told them to close the vent when done for the day. Two weeks later, same thing. They left the cap loose and tilted to the side. Full of rainwater. This year they had the pontoon in, two weeks later it's gone completely, haven't seen it anywhere. I have to talk to them but either they sold it, or it's at a shop someplace. To bad, the motor is only three years old.

Well, one good thing about climate change is that it almost never rains here in the summer. There is almost no way for rainwater to get into the fuel tank.

I never had any significant water from the gas station tanks. Of course, I only use high volume automotive gas stations. Low volume gas stations or marinas tend to have more water in their tanks.

Reminds me of something my Dad did when he first started with dementia. He drained a couple gallons of gas out of his boat and got caught red handed dumping it in the storm sewer behind his garage. Something he would never had done if his mind was right. He had to pay a substantial fine.

Very possible !! This happens often but people hate to think their new gas is bad !! Been there, done that ! All my boat fuel comes from a private dealer that monitors his stuff. I use the E 10, fuels with never an issue but tested often.

Cleaned out gas tanks and 5 gallon of new 0 % ethanol marine Hi Test. new Primer Bulb. Back to instant starts ....With 2 new gapped correctly plugs.
