Well I had it back in the water today after fixing the bellows. Not so much water this time but I did notice that I had a droplet of water avery three or our seconds coming from the bottom of the transom plate. I took on about half a gallon in six hours. That is normal for me and I think this has been going on for a while, but I just noticed it. My boat is like a CVX20 and the transom is SUPER hard to see. I had to use a mirror and a flashlight. Should I put some sillycone on it to get me through the season and fix it in the winter?
Also there are two HUGE floatation foam blocks on either side of my engine that make very hard to do any work. Has anyone come up with removable floats? If I cut them out can they be remade?
UPDATE:
I did some exploration today. i filled the bilge up with water to see where it came out. The plug ring was leaking pretty bad but not the transom plate. I drained the water and took out the seat so i could really see under the engine. I started poking around and found under the plate was solid but to the side I broke through. the wood is like saw dust, but only the top layer (about 1/4 inch). I also noticed that water was leaking from under the transom plate, and it is out of the water. I guess that means the thing is soaked. I am going to yank the engine and do this right, that is no question. I just want to make it through another couple of weeks so we can use it for labor day.
Here are some pictures.
The is the lower left of the engine if you are looking at it.
