Hi everyone,

I've recently inherited a boat. It is all wrapped up for the winter but I was able to peak into the boat and all I saw written was the word "Firebird" right beside the steering wheel. I'm pretty sure it is a Thunder Craft but I'm not sure. I couldn't see the sides as it was all tarped up.

I really have no idea what I have but I do want to do a little research this winter on ways to restore the boat. I've searched firebird but inevitably I come up with the car.

Has anyone ever heard of this type of boat?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I have a 1979 thundercraft ss180 that I use for a canadian fishing boat. there is a section for thundercraft here. It has been a very good problem free boat

Re: I think it is a Thunder Craft

Hi
I had a Thundrcraft Firebird for about 2 years. It was a '77. Bought it at a boat auction in '95. It was in pretty rough shape when bought but took it home but the floor was solid enough. So, I cleaned it up, sandwiched the transom in 1/2 and 3/8" aluminum, hung a 70 HP merc on it and had the best time on the rivers and lakes with it. That hull was bullet proof. There is still one on the lake where I boat.
I eventually traded mine in on a larger boat that fit the growing family.
You have a gem on your hands. Happy boating!!
