I think I'm another story of a bad boat purchase

Wow that is a shame this happened. One thing I never do is buy something I have not looked at that is for sure. I am sure you and your wife will not either.
Yeah. I had no idea she was planning on doing it. She just knows how much I've wanted a boat my whole life, saw a post for one that was cheap and looked good in the pictures, not knowing anything more about used boats she figured that I could fix any issues that it might have. She sent our 20 y/o son to pick it up, of course he had no idea what he should be looking for or asking, and now I have it. At least all the paperwork is in my name 🤣🤷‍♂️

You can almost always part it out for more than what you paid

That's what I'm hoping to do. I plan on at the very least getting the motor running because I know that's where most of the value is. The trailer isn't too bad either, just has rotted bunks which allowed the boat to fall onto the mounts. I wanted to turn it into a sandbox or kiddie pool, but the wife put the kibosh on that.

Ah man now you are going to go and try to do the same thing to someone else that does not know better.

I would/could never do that. I'm planning on getting the motor running to sell it independently of the hull itself. I'll part out what I can before taking it to the dump. I'm crazy OCD when it comes to boating safety, and could never sell someone something that isn't 100% safe to the best of my knowledge.

Awe man that sucks, she should let you since it was her that got the boat. Could be useful for something.

It's only a 16 footer, so it isn't huge. I've been racking my brain thinking of alternative uses for it...me and my daughter jokingly said we were going to turn it into a food truck and drive around selling fish and seafood.
