Re: I think I went mod crazy
I took my boat out today just to see how well all the mods worked together at my new small boat launch site
Sorry, no pictures today. This was just a shake out day
The Good, the bad, the ugly
Lessons learned
The GOOD
1. I had space and time to try out everything I have been working on in all the configurations.
2. The boat is scary fast now that I am using the high pressure Electric pump.
The floor and keel are much stronger
Last year I was just using the standard Zodiac electric pump and topping it off with the gauge and high pressure foot pump
What a difference the right pressure makes
3. The suction cup for the transducer worked great attached to the tube
4. The bench seats with storage worked great.
Nothing was rolling around the boat
5. Using a c clamp to attach the Gps/chart plotter/ fish finder worked great
6. The Bow bag worked great
7. The VHF / GPS radio worked great
8. The VHF/ GPS radio FLOATS
9. The Bimini works for rain as well as sun
10. The Kayak Dolly actually moved the boat (without the motor attached to it)
THE. BAD
1. I forgot my boat line
2. I forgot the boat anchor
3. I think I need to stencil on my registration number
4. I left one of the oar locks home.
THE UGLY
:mad-
1. One of the dolly wheels just had a blow out.
I have now replaced them with a much better grade of wheel from Harbor Freight
2. The weather was all over the place
Lessons learned
1. I now have to have the motor readjusted to be in alignment with the properly inflated boat.
( the boat runs too fast with no throttle at all)
2. Carry extra rope for the boat
3. Put the seat cusion/storage bags on the bench seats before you mount the seats
4. Going out by yourself is three times as hard unless you know the water you are in.
5. Find a camera mount
6. Allow time for other people wow factor about the boat performance and the fact that the motor is propane
7. Use the Zodiac electric pump to pump up the boat in addition to the high pressure pump.
That should shave more time off of the inflation process.
