I screwed up update

Last week I posted how I smoked my impeller. I took the lower unit off with and the burnt impeller. Removered the thermostats and washed out the system through the pickup tube with a garden hose. I did a compression test and read 95 and 100 starboard and 110 110 port side. (1984 v4 90hp)
Should I put back together as is and try to decarb to raise the compression or is the moter on its way out. I would rather finance a new moter then put a ton of money into this one. Any thoughts out there would be appriciated.

Re: I screwed up update

When OMC machined their blocks, they never did a good job of making sure the crank centerline was equidistant from the top of both decks. It is very normal for compression to vary between both banks. A 10 lb difference is not abnormal. Unless the compression has changed since you first got the engine, I would not worry about it. Decarbs should be done annually on crossflows, as they tend to accumulate carbon on the rings when running today's fuels.

No harm in doing a decarb. Only good can come from it.

shux , that ain't too bad, seafoam it and add a bit of startron to each tank, I did that last yr and compression crept up every time I ran it.
1984 , its just broken in.!:D
