In another topic, it was sugested to convert
an I/O boat to outboard. Where can one obtain the bracket to handle ,say, twin 150s?
How much are these brackets? Do offer addition floatation (as they would proly throw-off the wieght distribution)?
And finally, how much are they?
My brotyher has a PRETTY 24deep vee,but don't like inboards or outdrives,and I can't blame him...but it's a nice hull and off shore design.

------------------
I'm no expert, but I DID sleep at a Holiday Inn last night!

I can't name a specific supplier, but I would expect any major marine supplier to be able to. In a pinch, one can be fabricated of 2" of laminated marine plywood and fiberglassed. Have an engineer check your design for strength before you build it.

It is important not to overpower. On a large boat (over 20') length times transom width will give you a close figure to what the USCG would rate it at.

Outboards almost always weigh less than same-power, iron block I/Os or inboards but the weight is farther back, so some relocating of other weight might be a good idea.

You will be amazed at all the deck space you gain and the improved performance and handling, especially low speed, in-the-marina handling.

Good Luck, 12Footer.

Thanks, JB.
And it sounds like a neat prject (not that he needs one more project).
I just wish I had the time and money to fool with it myself. He has two pretty C/R OMCs
,that pretty hull, and everything else he would need except a suitable transom-mount,and it's all collecting pine needles LOL.

------------------
I'm no expert, but I DID sleep at a Holiday Inn last night!
