That baby sure hangs over the end of the trailer.
Yes, the boat is moved back on the trailer about a foot to lower the tongue weight for trailering. It will be scooted forward once the engines are installed.

Project Budget Update . . .

Here are my latest figures on the project budget.

The $20K instant savings on the Honda 350's really helped the budget.

Overall, how does this compare to the costs/market value of the boats with outboards that you considered prior to starting this endeavor?

The older I get the more I realize it’s not always about the money. If you like what you have and the layout works then the conversion makes sense. The feeling of it planing out the first time will be satisfying.

Early on I recall doing a sell/buy analysis . . . It looked like I'd be spending an additional $100K.

EDIT: Basically selling something nobody wants and trying to buy something that lots of people want.

Now that the boat is over at the re-power shop, I have been finishing up a home project (flooring).

Just as the last nail went into the trim, the Admiral started moving furniture into the room.
.
In other news, the Merc 7.5 runs and the dinghy will be launched today to assume its summer home at the town dock.

I ordered a new compass for my boat (Ritchie F-83), which seemed to be in short supply . . . I might bring it over to the shop when it arrives.

Once I get the boat back with engines/rigging, I have a few more items on the punch-list before launching.
.
  • Install New Compass
  • Install Depth Transducer
  • Install Side Trim Pieces
  • Install Trim Tabs
.
Then splash-day will be upon us :D

so, question from ignorance here - why were they not uncrated and tested for purported specs before now? Or are they new?

They "do not" guarantee the motors that is honda. If after install there are issues honda pays, and they have other things to do that are paying the bills

I don’t understand the question 🤔. They are new engines. No reason to un-crate them ahead of time.

In my career working days I did a lot of Project Management 'stuff' . . . Factory Automation, Software Implementation, Facility Build-outs, and the like. So, naturally I have a project schedule for this conversion project, which I'll share for the benefit of those crazy enough to take on this sort of project. :ROFLMAO:

I was initially thinking the build phase would take just a few months, but once I got into it, I realized it was going to take a lot longer.

Nearing the end . . . and we shall see how it all works out in terms of the boat performance and maintenance.
