More talk about engines . . .
I've been soliciting pricing on engines, mostly the 300 HP, but I am getting a quote on the Honda 350's, giving their $10K incentive. Overall, looking at Yamaha, Suzuki, Mercury, Honda. Mostly running in the $90-100K range all in, plus what I'm spending on the bracket (don't ask

)
Mercury and Yamaha have their own DTS/Joystick technology. Suzuki and Honda use the Optimus system for their techy controls.
Lots of re-powers going on, so many of the shops are slammed with quotes and orders. Still waiting on a Yammy quote from one shop. Suzuki is going to be the least expensive, but not by much, considering the Optimus is crazy money. A guy on THT did reach out to me about a pair of 2021 Suzuki 350 Dual props that he is selling. Probably not worth it though . . .
Timing is a challenge right now, because by the time I have the boat ready, most shops will be saturated with season prep work for their customer base. The winter has been difficult for fiberglassing, and working with the Naval Architect has put things on pause for a while, but well worth it. So, be it . . . I'll run the Boston Whaler for a month into the season if need be. No sense in rushing it.
I'm leaning towards the Mercury 300HP V8 as the engine of choice. V8 torque (4.6 litre), light weight (630 ish lbs), and brand familiarity are the key factors for me. The Hondas are also a V8 (5.0 litre), but crazy heavy: 776 lbs.
The Admiral said the other day "you like Mercurys, so the get them"
