hi guys- i've been lurking in the shadows for a while here and finally registered. i'm pretty new to boating. i bought a used i/o and all the work myself: re-decked it, put new seats in, new carpet, stereo, built my own tower with the pipe bender at my pop's shop (all in one week! long hours). it was hard work but great fun... until the first day out after I had finished all the work, i hit something. Well, the transom was aparently weak and we sprung a huge leak where the lower unit(?) comes through the transom. Back to the shop. Had to go to the boat guys for the transom repair. That was a month and a half ago. Like I said, i'm new to boating so I've never used a boat mech. I was just interested to know how long it should take a mech to pull the motor and put the motor back in. The fiberglass has been done for a long time. I thought it might take an experienced mech maybe 8 hours to remount the motor and get everything connected. This isn't a rant. I just kinda wanted to know if this is usually how long this stuff takes. I thank all the mechanics out there and am glad that you guys have the knowledge to work on the stuff i can't. thanks
