Have a bowrider with plywood hatch for the engine cover, original was rotted so rebuilt and am working out engine problems prior to new upholstery. It's starting to get weathered again and I wanted to do rear hatch out of starboard or some composite but didn't know how well it would work or what material would be best. The plywood was coated with poly resin and is about a 5ft by 3 ft panel. I plan on foot traffic across it and covering this winter if engine behaves.

any recommendations?

Use CSM and 1708 and to a proper job of encapsulating the wood.

Resin alone has no strength and will start to crack the first time it flexes
