My wife and I are buying our first boat. It's a 97 smoker craft the engine is a 97" 4 stroke 90 hp mercury. I don't know much about motors yet. Can anyone tell me if it's a good motor?

you could have a mechanic check it over, or check the compression. a lot has to do with condition, ie how it has been maintained. does it run? can you test it?
