I need help removing steering helm

I'm trying to replace the steering in my 1981 johnson. I have removed the wheel and that is about it. I can't get the cap off that the steering wheel was bolted to. Any help would be great.

should be a center cap, pry off, the a nut under it. it is easier to get the hub off with the steering wheel still attached.
