I need help on my 86 125hp force

Is there a temperature guage availible instead of the buzzer?<br />What all parts do I need for the thermostatthat was not on the motor?<br />Also need to know about a control lever part ?<br />TILT/TRIM takes a few seconds to start lifting motor is that normal?<br />Need carb gasket kits,dont know of good place for parts other than iboats?<br />sorry, this is my first real boat.please help thanks

Welcome to iboats.<br /><br />What control lever part? What controls (make and model) do you have?<br /><br />Temp gauge will only warn you after the overheat is underway.<br /><br />I suggest a water pressure gauge kit, available here on iboats, or elsewhere. $50 gets you the kit, that will tell you when the water pressure starts to drop.<br /><br />Carb kits are best obtained from Mercury dealer in my opinion.<br />Some guys have been having trouble with the aftermarket kits.<br /><br />Tilt/trim should start moving as soon as the motor starts turning.<br />Check fluid level.<br /><br />Here is a parts diagram of the powerhead, showing the:<br />thermostat cover, part # 819693 $10<br />thermostat grommet, part number 25-F84504 $5<br />thermostat. part number F528068 $31, or get one from iboats for $26, part # 18-3559 here on iboats, <br />and the thermostat cover gasket, part number 27-828319 $1<br /><br />

ROSCOE<br /><br />The control lever is made by morse controls. Its a side mount box with two cables going to it,with no wires in the box.On the control box there is a big plastic piece about the size of a check book with a metal rod that slides into the different positions when sifting through gears and thats what controls how it goes into reverse/nuetral/forward that piece is what is broken. The piece is held in with a e-clip/metal strap over the front of it.It comes out to easy for me to think there is not just a piece for it.<br />ALSO thanks for the picture and the part #'s<br />what do i need to take with me when i go for the carb parts?<br />when checking the fluid level it should down but my ? is what kind of fluid goes into the motor?<br />what if this persists if fluid is checked and is full when checked?

Provide the motor's model number to the dealer for the correct carb kit.<br /><br />Top off fluid with whatever fluid is in there.<br />It could be motor oil (10w40), or it could be transmission fluid.<br /><br />Can't help on the controls, does not sound familiar to me.<br /><br />Perhaps if you posted a new thread in the "boat forum", and put "Morse controls" in the subject line, you might get a better response.
