I have a new to me boat with a volvo penta duoprop. I removed the tag on top of the upper gear case but can not make out what numbers are on it. What I do know is on the flame arrestor cover it has a sticker that says transom assembly DP-S (290) then two sets of numbers:
4111522228
3868299
Behind the engine on the inside of the transom assembly it has a tag that says DP-S.
And last it says SP in big stickers on the back of the drive. I have four more pics but it would not let me load them. I guess they were to big. Thanks in advance for any help it is a new to me boat. I want o check the u joints and gimbal bearing but want the parts before I rip into anything.

Should be a tag on your drive shown by the arrow in the picture below.

I took that tag off Today. I could not make it out. I am looking at it now and all I can make out is DP-, I can not make out any more. It is in a 1995 carver 250. Originally it had a Volvo 5.7 Gi now it has a 1987 mercruiser 260. The PO told me he had it changed out two years ago. The only reason I know it was originally a 5.7 Gi is the flame arrestor cover from the Volvo is still on there. He replaced the motor with the mercruiser but switched over all the accessories. Alternator, water pump(raw water cooled) etc.

Also the tag wasn't stamped. The numbers seemed to be scratched in.

If it was a 95, it would be a DP-C1 drive, could be just a C. Doesn't really matter any more, the things that have changed from the C to the C1 through D models are all the same now.

So when I look for parts or a manual this drive would be a DP-C1 is that correct?

If appears that, that would be the case IF its a 95....If the drive was replaced....

It would have been that if it was OEM, not replaced.

I shouldve finished my sentence. I was hinting that, if it was replaced, who knows what it is..
