Could anyone clarify something for me?

I need ignition parts for my '53 Super Fastwin 15012 rebuild....and I didn't think it would be this hard!

Coils? Simple. If I go here:

http://www.iboats.com/Evinrude-Igni...1449943--**********.499204215--view_id.269647

...my engine is listed: 15HP, 1951 - 1972. That covers it!

But for points & condensers (i.e. "tune up kits")? I click here:

http://www.iboats.com/Evinrude-Tune...1449943--**********.499204215--view_id.269583

...but my HP & model year isn't shown. It shows 15HP - '56 or 15HP - '74-'79.

And it's not just iboats.com that the info I need is missing; this chart can be found on many marine parts websites....but my model year isn't listed.

Do any of you 15012 Super Fastwin owners know for sure what points & condensers are used on this engine?

I'm ready to purchase and although I've googled, searched & read for hours, I can not find a definitive answer!

I don't want to sound like a jerk, but please don't guess or tell me that "Evi used the same stuff on lots of models"; Generally speaking, I know this. I need "for sure" responses.

Thanks in advance!

FOR SURE. the same points and condensers were used on ALL universal magnetos from the early 50's until they went to electronic ignition. the part numbers are (2)Condenser 18-5199 (O.E. #580321)
(2) Contact Set 18-5156 (O.E. #580148) Points rarely go bad. Usually just polish them up and reset them. condensers do go bad. Just buy this kit if you want points and condensers.

Perfect! Thank you , Commander!

I agree that points are usually re-usable, but this engine laid in the mud behind a barn for many, many years. It has suffered enough, and It's worthy of all-new electronics.

Thanks again for the definite answer!
