Long story short, took my 84 smokercraft (w/ 84 2 stroke 35Hp Merc) out in October for early goose season, general season was about a month away and so I didn't think I'd need to clear my fuel lines and, I let it set. Welp we had a cold snap here in Tennessee and they don't winterize their fuel. It gelled and wouldn't start on its own. Squirting fuel on the carb got it to turn over.
Initial Symptoms: pumping primer bulb would spill fuel out of the fuel bowl over flow. I pulled the carb, removed fuel bowl cleaned meter and float. Found pieces of the infamous fuel line deteriorating. Cleaned fuel filter same deal. Boiled the carb. Replaced old gas can with new can and new fuel. I did not change the fuel line and primer bulb (I know prob just contaminated it again)
Current symptoms: engine starts after priming fuel bulb, revs high then shuts down. I can sometimes get it started again by priming again.
What I plan to try next: replace fuel line and primer bulb, clean and boil carb.
My question: does this sound like a stuck meter again? What carbs interchange with the 35 Merc 2 stroke? I saw on marketplace a 50hp will lower units interchange?
Anything else I should try and check?
TIA!
