I fixed it finally!!!!!!

Ok i have 2 posts on here.one is mercruiser doesnt run and the other is mercruiser cant give gas.after taking the carb off 4 times and checking it,new points plugs dwell timing new fuelfilters it still would only idle couldnt give it gas.it smoked out the exhaust as wellwhich scared me like head blown.well after 3 months of checking everythingi took a 10 gallon gas can filled it with 15 bucks ran a hose straight from pump to gas can and she fricken purrs!!!!!!!!!!!!!idles perfect no smoke revs up perfect so bad gas???????????wow i never would of thought.i took the tank off drained cleaned it out and its fixed.thanx for allthe input

did you smell the gas that you got out of the old tank? you can generally tell when gas is souring or basically turning into varnish.

Congrats on finding the solution! Don't you hate it though when the problem turns out to be something you probably should have checked out much earlier.

yes but the pooling up in the carb led me away from that and smoking out the exhaust i did everything but check the fuel i only had the boat 1 month had it out 3 times the third day it wouldnt rev up anymore and looked like carb was loading up that was the last thing left after i did everything else what a relief though

Well all that other stuff is new now. Glad you found the issue. Now you better keep changing the fuel filter a lot til you trust that the tank is clean.
