I posted a 100HP Johnson on Craigslist. I just got back a response from a guy wanting to buy it. I asked him what type of boat does he have. Get this: A 12 ft. Jon Boat. He said he'll add some plywood to the back of it in order to handle the engine....

oh man...

Sell it to him. But only if he lets you watch him launch it!

Along similar lines, I had a guy come and look at a Wellcraft Express Cruiser I was selling. A 25'er, that was powered by twin I/Os. After coming and looking he stepped back and said, well I really had intended on putting a 100 hp outboard on it.

I laughed and told him I wouldn't advise it, but he is more than welcome to power it however he chooses.

He didn't buy the boat.

Sell him the motor, but cash only. Cashing checks from a deceased's estate can be problematic.

and I thought it was silly that my roommate's dad put a 25hp on a 12footer. He had to sit in the front to start it, but once he got it going it flew!

I don't think you'd have anything to worry about. That boat would sink about 5 feet from shore.

Steer him away from Missouri too. Seriously I doubt that 12' jon would hold the weight. If he did manage to get a 100 hp. mounted it would stand that boat on it's end and quickly sink as soon as it hit the water.
