How many parts, pieces, etc for boats are becoming excessive. I searched for a windshield for a 20 foot stingray, found one, 499. acceptable until I read per piece. RF 499.00, etc.

It’s treated like a speciality market. They switch designs constantly so if you need a certain part, it has to be made or acquired from a scrap yard. Some part’s are easy to get like engine parts because they are mass produced.

Unfortunately that's how the supply chain with boats works. When the boat was manufactured, the manufacturer would do something along the lines of build 100 boats and order 105 windshields from a windshield manufacturer, such as Taylor Made with the extra 5 accounting for windshields that may be damaged on boats in transport to the dealer. After that, they don't care what happens. If it breaks, it's an insurance problem if you have insurance. On the flip side, there isn't much of a market for windshields for 20 foot stingray boats, so if you found one, offer them half and see if they bite. It's almost guaranteed they will counter offer and you may meet up in the middle.

there are two companies that make boat glass. None of them make less than the MOQ

$500 is cheap for a 35 year old boat compared to others. Most are in the $1200+ per side for curved glass

try finding a sunroof panel for a 2016 Cruisers Cantius 48' for under $10k per side (same glass company) and that is just the two pieces of glass. the whole sunroof assembly is $80k from Lippert (Taylor Made)

It all books down to the cost if owning a boat. Pay the price or fab your own like many do. Nothing cheap about owning a boat unless you can do everything yourself.
