I am starting to believe some of the global warming in N J.

I have lived on the water in NJ for 30+ years. The water level has risen a lot, where I had to raise my dock twice, to keep it above water unless we have a storm.

When I first moved into this house in '89, we would have a flood every 5 years or so. Now we have 4 or 5 floods a year.

At 1:40 AM is it is still 79F

I almost miss the -40F we had for a Week in January

The local town sea wall and dock was re-built a few years ago. I think it had been there since biblical times. It seems that the engineering folks forgot to factor in sea level rise. Not sure they meant for the platform structure to be partially submerged during high tide.

Gills Rock Wisconsin. Taken late in 2018. That seawall used to be 5 feet above the water

Down here in Florida, every rain storm now results in street flooding. The tidal surge has the water 6"-15" deep in the businesses along the coast

I was wondering where all the melted ice from the north and South Pole was going to affect all the surface land.

or you could spend 11+ million dollars in an ocean front property on an island that was supposed to be underwater years ago and just not worry about it.

NJ traditionally had aprox. 2 weeks of real warm weather and 2 weeks really cold weather. We had 4 nice seasons and rain throughout the year.

The last 3 years we have little rain during the summer, and more than 2 weeks of hot weather. Real cold weather is gone here as well. I planted a White Fig tree some years ago. Traditionally you needed to cut 'em down and cover 'em in winter. I did that for a year and put burlap around them for 2 years. Now I don't do anything to protect them from the winter. The tree is growing real well. The good news is that 2 sweatshirts are usually enough jacket to work outside.

I have a lime and lemon tree that I put in the garage over the winter. I may plant those as well, since the winters are so mild.

2 years ago we received 24 inches of snow in a storm. It melted in 2 days and that was it for snow that year. Last year we may have had a dusting of snow.

In the late 60's we often had snow on Easter. No mas.

Mother Nature is just reminding Man that He really doesn't own the Planet, that It was here before He came along, and will still be here long after He is gone

Climate change is real and it has happened many times before ! The problem is....how we address it.....everyone buying an EV is not going to stop it ! Suddenly stopping fossil fuels won't stop ir change it ! Rather than running around like chicken little yelling the end is near and spending money of foolish things....why not use that money to prepare for climate change ?
Why do people build homes in low lying areas, why do people build on the ocean's edge in hurricane areas, why build your home right below a dam ??
We are more concerned about having social media, youtube, and other gossip programs than we are about building what is needed to battle this climate change that man cannot stop no matter what we do ! But we can prepare for it if we ever get spending priorities in order.

While sea levels are rising in some areas, the level is declining in other areas on earth.

As for Lake Michigan, low level was at 576' in 1964 and 2013.
High level was recorded at 582' in 1985. Anyone remember all the marinas raising their docks in the 80's. And then rebuilding them again 10 years ago, because you couldn't reach the dock from your boat ??? I do.

But geological formations, and piling locations from shipping piers built in the earlier 1800's, seem to indicate that the water level was even higher.
The point is, our view of historical water levels is very limited to recent data, limited global historical data, and of course, anecdotal evidence.
