About 3 weeks ago I picked up a 15' bass boat with a 35 Johnson Super Sea Horse, once I got into it I found a mushy transom and alot of poorly patched flberglass. Rather than spend the rest of my summer with a grinder, I set off looking for something I could get in the water a little quicker.
Not long after I started looking, I spotted a 1960 Esquire fiberglass boat with a 1960 75hp Super Sea Horse on craigslist
That was it, I had found the boat I wanted to float. It's been garage kept, solid deck, tight transom, no leaks, I've just got to go through "awakening a sleeping outboard".
This past week I was out getting the Esquire cleaned up and cleaned out when someone stopped to check out the rotting bass boat I had put up for sale. We got to talking and he said he had a project boat he'd like to get rid of just to have something different, I followed him out to find... nothing. "Where's the boat?", "Oh, we pushed it out into the woods at the back of the property so we could mow"
Thinking I was going to find another rotting mess we hiked back to see it. On the way back he told me of a 60hp Johnson with great spark and great compression that his wife would like to have taken out of the garage.
I could finish writing a novel about it, but I'll show you a few pictures and let you see what I blew $200 on.
I love aluminum, it's a Richline that needs seat cushions and a dash made. the cable steering is still all there, along with the newer style steering deally (technical term). I'll leave you with that and get to the engine in the Johnson forum.
