Have a 20 ft pontoon with a 90 hp mercury 4 stoke efi would a hydrofoil be of any benefit

only to the people selling the hydrofoil to you. they make money

if you want the best benefit on a pontoon, you need a jack plate and power tilt to properly have the prop height adjusted by weight on-board

In my mind, a 20' toon with a 90hp 4 stroke is not going to benefit much from ANY more weight placed on the transom.

We do agree on the so called "hydrofoil". Complete nonsense.

Focus on optimum engine height and a prop maximized for your purposes will likely win in the end....

If anything I am trying to keep the front end of my pontoon higher, not lower.

I think it will actually do the opposite of what you are looking for.
Need to trim out to raise the bow and maybe a lower pitch prop.

What benefit are you looking for?
Just seen a few pontoon boats with them on. Wondering if would improve performance. I run a lot with my daughters father in law he has a 24 foot with a 90 Yamaha ,we both are running a 131/4x17 prop ,he can pull out and leave me as if i was standing still had a dealer replace spark plugs and clean injectors unit just seem dead any susgestion

Sounds like you are dogging it out of the hole what rpm's are you doing at wot? I'm thinking you might need a 13 or 15 pitch prop. Plus what year is your pontoon and what year is his.

According to tach shows 5500 rpm . The boat is a 2006 princecraft the motor is a 2007 mercury 90 efi had a 13x14 prop when i bought it used it would go way over 5500 atwot

is his yamaha a 2-stroke or a 4 stroke? power curve is significantly different between the two.

Maybe water in your toons or motor mounted to low? Got a photo.
