Hydraulic steering bleeding??

F-I-L's boat. 2 stations. On the reservior behind the wheel it says Teleflex syTen (the T looks like 2 upside down mirror-image L's ?) On the single cylinder mounted to transom is a sticker saying 'Teleflex, Capilano Hydraulic steering'.

There are 3 lines from the helm to a 'block' mounted on the transom. Other side of block has 2 lines going to the cylinder. The problem is is steers ok going to port, but feels 'jerky' going to starboard. Almost like it keeps grabbing and slipping. It takes almost twice as many turns of the wheel to go starboard the same ammount as to port.

What is the proper way to bleed this system? I have no experience with hydraulic steering, so any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Colin

F-I-L's boat.

Not familiar with F-I-L, what does that mean? And what year?
I think I know where the online instructions are for bleeding, if I can find them. Teleflex changed their site and it's a pain to find anything.

Re: Hydraulic steering bleeding??

Thanks for the link Don, but my system's not in there. Mine is a non-powered system. There are the 2 helms(each with it's own reservior behind the wheel) lines to the block I mentioned, and into the single cylinder that links to the outdrive. No other reservoirs, pumps, etc.
