Hello everyone,

I'm looking for a little help with identifying what year range (specific year would be great) and model of a Hydra Sports boat.

My father-in-law has had the boat sitting on a trailer for about 5-6 years in his yard. I was able to convince him to give it to me so I could fix it up and get it back on the water. It's not in bad shape, it just needs some TLC to get it back to where it needs to be, ON THE WATER.

Unfortunately he isn't able to give me much information on the boat itself. So any help in identifying it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm thinking it's a late 80's/early 90's production. Using a tape measure it's just short of 24 ft, it has a Kevlar hull. That's pretty much all I know about it. I've attached some pictures of it with the hope that someone out there can help with gaining some more info about it.

Thanks in advance.

The HIN will tell you the year and is stamped into the hull and its listed on a title or registration..

Sitting idle in the yard for 5+ yrs isnt ideal. Well covered/protected, bow up w the plug out?

If the deck and transom are solid that could be a great boat. Love the twin outboards and the T-top. I have a newer H-S and it's a well built boat. Mine is wood-free though and I doubt your vintage is.

Looks like the wheels are form a Ford Ranger Pickup or Explorer around the 95 year. But I can't say they are original. Nice boat if you can get everything fixed back like new. JMHO

Hull Identification Numbers (HIN) were required after Nov 1, 1972. The HIN in the picture is very difficult to read. The format (ending in a letter "A") is a Pre-August 1, 1984 format.

Does that end in "A84A"? That would be August 1984 as the date of manufacture.

nice looking boat! for sure needs someone to get it back on the water. that HIN is hard to read might need to pencil over it to get a better look at it and use the indentations not as visible from cameras. looking forward to seeing you fix this one up!

Hydra-Sports kinda' split up around '98. The company moved to Florida and is currently still building blue water fishing boats. They sold off the sport boat side and it's now part of MasterCraft over in East TN.

You might contact the Florida company and see if they can help you out once you have the HIN in hand (details on the boat).
