Hunting Turkey w/o a license cost over $800

Didn't know but I was hunting turkey without a license and one head light is $857. I hit the hen and tossed it into another pickup going the other direction, feathers everywhere. It just busted the lens but like all things, have to buy the whole light.

Have to figure out what its going to cost at the dealer, or just pay in my self or turn in with a $500 deductible. Probably won't turn it in, but will see.

Gone are the days where you could walk into the parts store and get a new " sealed beam " head light.-----It was $6.95 either for a 2 lamp or 4 lamp system.----Now it can be up to $2000 or more + labor for a new unit on some cars.-----Seems that new car buyers are not concerned with cost of repairs.

Dads 1996 dodge had taken a turkey smack in the middle of a grill at 65 mph once. Took out the grill, radiator support and one headlight. 15# of bird will do some serious damage

Yup. One of my customers with a 2020 Ram hit a turkey, and the bill was a little over $1,500 for a grill and a headlight.

Dealer was closed yesterday, will try again today.
I'm lucky it was a direct hit on the headlight. No damage anywhere else. I taped the plexiglass lens back in place for now.

I have one hit me many years ago. Broke off a heated mirror, small dent in the fender and the door. Insurance estimate was $1,800. I bought a used mirror on line for $200 and installed it. Never did fix the small dents, more like a crease.

Darn turkey flew away, thought I would be able to at least get a meal that was worth big bucks.

Dealer said there is one in Atlanta so its 50/50 if its actually there. Orderede it, and shouldn't have. Cost 640 MSRP and could have ordered thru mopar online for 450, but it done. Should be in tomorrow

A little unrelated but I work for ford and I keep seeing people crack their tail light lenses on f150s then leave them to get water inside. If the truck has blind spot and cross traffic monitoring it takes out the sonar module with it. 4500 bucks our cost just for the light. One hell of a surprising repair bill for people. 5 grand over a little bump.
