Re: Humminbird 383C GPS/Sonar Combo

I started looking for an entry level combo unit this year. I found that althought 5" display units were within my price range, I thought the screen was too small to view both functions simultaneously, and that is what I wanted to do. A 3.5" display will be much smaller, and I think virtually unusable. I recommend you look at the display yourself and see. They can be found in a lot of discount marine stores (West Marine, BoatUS). You can buy online and save a few $$.

Re: Humminbird 383C GPS/Sonar Combo

I have this unit (Humminbird 383c combo). It works great. I also thought the screen was going to be a little small, but it is fine for me even in split-screen view as long as you are sitting in your seat. If you are standing up at the back of the boat, then you won't be able to see the fish or the details of the GPS, but it does have a Big Digits view which displays your Depth, speed, temperature, voltage, etc. in really big digits so you can see those far away.

But...for the GPS you only need to see that sitting down in the captain's seat.

Click on my pictures below, I've got a picture of it mounted in my boat.
