My 1968 Larson floor needs replacing.:joyous:

I goofed and cut a 11 inch long slice with my skill saw in the hull.
I read I could use duraglas and force it thru to the outside, then a layer inside and outside.
First use wax remover then 80 grit I think about 4" on both sides of the cut

If so, do I need fiberglas cloth on both sides?
And how do I go about it?

I appreciate any help....I have been searching for answers, but not sure how to go about it.
I plan on using ? inch BC exterior plywood and fasten with resin to the stringers..not sure
how to use the resin.
Thanks for any help.

Welcome to iBoats . . .

Well, that one item you can scratch off the bucket list :D

It has happened a few times to folks here on the restoration forum, so you are not alone. You probably want to read up on some of the restoration threads. You can generally fix the hull with the materials that you will be using for the rebuild.

Re: Hull Repair

Welcome pep-rocky,
You are definitely in the right place to get all the info you'll need to fix up this old boat to better than new condition...
You are in the overwhelmed phase of this project, so my best advice is the same as "tpenfield's", start by reading through as much information as you can...
Here is an excellent place to start...http://forums.iboats.com/boat-restoration-building-hull-repair/how-tos-other-great-information-288451.html ...there is a ton of great info there and there are links to some of the "go to" restorations for knowledge...Pay particular attention to "FriscoJarrett's" You Tube Videos...he has done an excellent job documenting most of the procedures and techniques you will be using.
Once you start to get a handle on things, repairs like the one you need on your hull will become fairly easy...
For more information, you can check out the signatures of the guys in the postings...
Best of luck and have fun!

Re: Hull Repair

Right idea to do a "Search" on You Tube and then a general search. Generally speaking you will have to do both to get a good repair. You will have to glass inside and out. Don't try to stick a piece of plywood on the inside. Not sure of the reference to the stringer. Is that another job ?

I ripped up the old floor, in doing so cut into the hull. Will glass on both sides...I'm using Duraglas in the cut area,
then should I go over that area with a fiberglass mat?
I don't know if I should fasten the new floor with stainless steel sheet metal screws or bond with some type
of resin mix. I guess it's the stringers..they may be covered with fiberglass mat. You can see I'm a newbe
more like over my head lol.

Thanks:joyous:

I'm watching Frisco's video on the flooring and got a surprise on how to attach it. WOW I was way
off base in my thinking. Thanks everyone.
