Hull paint for a tinny

The islander is finally wrapped and put up for the winter. I am planning on possibly repainting the hull in the spring. What is the best type of paint to use? I have a compressor and paint gun so I can shoot the paint versus roll/brush it. The boat will spend most of the time on a trailer. I don't plan on mooring it in the water so I don't expect to need anti-fowling paint. The current paint is still pretty good but could use some freshening up. Should I strip and prime/paint or just scuff up and repaint? This will give me something to think about until spring.

Hello TT..

If your paint is good, simply scuff up the old paint lightly, wash & wipe the dust off from sanding and get to painting.

I and others have used regular Rustoleum (not their marine grade) since we trailer ours as well..

If you will be spraying, take a look in the "finished boats projects" and read North Beach's resto and take a look at his paint job.

Good Luck!

I'm currently painting mine with Petit Easypoxy and am LOVING it. I think you could apply this stuff with a push broom and it would level out and look awesome.

Yeah, I use Easypoxy for my bootstripe. No 2-part mixing and it flows out nicely.
Good stuff.

Here's a shot of my hull last spring.
The Easypoxy is green and didn't bleed thru when masking.
