Re: hull inspection
well..... when i inspected my hull. i looked for any type of cracked fiberglass. weather it was stress cracks or cracks from impact. also chunks of fiberglass missing from impact. i looked for signs of rotted wood. bounceing the drive up and down to test transom. cracks on the transom. dark stain coming from the drain hole. inside, i'd check for soft spots on the floor. soft floor could indicate rotted stringers too. use a ice pick to probe various places for rot. look in the engine compartment and see if you can see any of the stringers to see if they're rotted. i've read where some folks take a core sample to see if the foam under the floor is wet. or also some folks take samples of the transom, anything wet is bad. anything mounted to the transom, screwed onto the outside of the hull, was suspect too. ladders, sonar, speedo, swim platforms, trim tabs. all places that can lead to water intrusion into the transom. leading to wood rot of the transom. stains coming from any mount point is a bad sign. anything that don't look like new is suspect....
btt. hopefully someone else will chime in too.. ya buying a new boat?
