I had the boat lifted by the marina in a covered slip. The damage looks fresh to me. The damage is right where the sling was placed.

it is on the strake.

the boat is a 1996 Donzi 3250 LXC.

i have a couple questions. First does anyone know the lift points, as this Boat did come with a manual, nor does it have lift markings on the hull.

second, what do you guys think of the damage? Is it a weakness in the hull, or incorrect lift point used?

the marina said they will repair the damage in the spring. I’ll probably have to pay.

The lifting points would be where the Z or I is in Donzi and between the aft and midship portholes , closer to the midship , as near as I can tell . Twin I/Os is going to have most of your weight in the stern . The stern strap should be pretty much under the engines. I don't think the Marina is at fault for the crushed glass . The gel coat is breaking down on its own ,looks like voids in the gel coat and glass . I would blame a faulty lay up at the factory vs the Marina or placement of hoisting straps . The boats hull and running strokes should be able to withstand the straps , no matter where they are placed . Unless it's some ultra light racing hull , which it's not .

Looks like the hull structure is rotting and the boat needs the hull to be restored.

Could be poor layup, however my guess is the foam is waterlogged and the stringer grid needs some attention

I'm going to go back to the boat tomoro evening. Ill bring my moisture meter. Is there anything you guys want me to check to rule anything out?

The pictures I took, may not show it, but the crack is only on the strake, not the hull itself. Would this still be stringer related? or could it have just been a weak/hollowed out strake from the factory?

Also, maybe worth noting, there is no cross ribs where they lifted the boat, as the engines and cross ribbing are further aft of the 'ZI'.

I know you guys know your stuff, it's why i posted here. A stringer problem is a BIG problem to have. So I'm really hoping it superficial.

Most hulls over 24 ' do not have " cross ribs " , usually a bulkhead serves that purpose. With a cabin type boat that is usually located right in front of the helm , or where the stairs are . It's pretty much the only location to tie the two sides together , besides the stern and bow . You probably have a solid hull , not cored . So there shouldn't be any water intrusion to worry about . Moisture meter can be deceiving, bottom paint and how long it's been out of the water may affect the readings . I'm leaning towards " weak/ hollowed out strake " from the factory " as I mentioned in my first reply . The stringers should not be affected by this . Water will get wicked into the glass over time if the exposed fibers are in constant contact with water. The resin below the stringers should keep that from wicking into the stringers .
