I know this subject is all over the web. I have a 65 boston whaler hull and I want to resurface the inside of it. How much of the old gel coat do i need to sand to paint it? Also if I do a real good job on prepping for the paint how long do yall think it will last?

Thanks

Ayuh,... All of it needs to be Scuffed,... Not sanded Off....

That depends on the Paint you use.... And how badly you Abuse it...
Rustoleum,.. Not so long... maybe...
A 2 pt. Urethane,... Quite awhile....

I think you need to re-read what Bond-o said.

It just means to sand lightly so that what ever you are putting on it will be able to bond mechanically.

It means to lightly sand, use 220 or 320 grit and thoroughly sand the entire surface, make sure you leave no glossy areas. You don't need to remove the gelcoat, or deeply sand into it, doing this will leave an uneven surface.
