I recently bought a boat that has a hydroelectric shifter with a forward, neutral, and reverse push button shifter. I just want clarification on how to properly shift into forward and reverse without causing damage. I notice that the the motor dies when the throttle lever gets close to the “start” position. Is it ok to shift when it’s just above the “start” position?
pretty new to boating. Thanks

You want to shift to reverse at slowest idle and to forward at slowest idle.----Shifting from forward to neutral can not damage this very good / well built shift system.----Perhaps do some trouble shooting on the motor to get it to idle properly.

Great. Thanks for the response. I’ll have someone take a look at why it dies at the lowest idle/ “start” position.
thanks a bunch!
