I jus' bought a 1970 inline6 ser no: 2931763.

The origonal owner died and the feller I bought it from didn't know much about it.

All factory decals had been removed and the cowling and silver block inside the cowl was all repainted black and modern 115 decals had been put on the exterior of the engine.

The prop was a 21p or 23p, (bigger then the 19p my other inlines6 1150s have).

If this ol' girl has the 1.83 to 1 LU that even makes it a stranger deal, as the prop is bigger then my other inline6s, (a 1971 1150 is right next to this one).

Do I have to crack the case to look at the reeds to find out????

I hope some of the big guns know how to tell.

Thanks in advance. JR

Take a look at the carbs. If it has big, thick venturis that almost block off the carb throats, it's a 115. It'll have smaller main jets and shorter reed stops.

If it has very small plastic venturis it's a 1350 with reed stops about twice the measurement of the 115, and .0785" main jets.

p.s. an easy way to check lower unit gear ratio is to rotate the flywheel 2 revolutions and see what the propshaft does: exactly 1 turn is 2:1; less than 1 turn is 2.3:1; and more than one turn means it's got the stock "overdrive" gears.

Theres no need to open up the block to measure the reeds, Just remove one of the carbs and use a small pice of wire with a 90 degree bend at the end of it to push one of the reeds open aginst is stop carfully. the 1150 will open about 1/16 of an inch the 1350 will open about 1/8 of an inch.

According to parts book a 1350 of that serial number, it will have the KD style carbs and a 1150 will have the WMK...
