how to replace heat sensors 98 150 intruder

can someone tell me how to replace these do you have to pull the heads off
and other then watching it doesn,t over heat can i safely run it with them disconnected until i get new ones.

The heat sensors have a cover. Remove the cover and pull them out.

Are yours bad? Have you tested them? They are not cheap, especally the Quickstart Sensor ($99)

thanks again chris yes i took the the boat out and ran it with them unplugged and it was fine plug them back in and it drops back down to 2200 rpms so i guess that means they are screwed up i put my hand on the block it was not hot at all

Since there are two sensors, I recommend you test each of them to see if one is still good. That could save some $ if only one is bad.

thanks again Chris I only replaced one ,the expensive one was shot and you were right $98. the other is only $55
