how to remove stuck lower unit

Hi, I have johnson 120hp 1986 model, I try to take off the lower unit so I can change the water pump, I remove all the bolt but still stuck,only come down maybe 3cm , plz help

Sounds like you have not disconnected the shift rod-----have you? I believe it disconnects below the lower carburetor.

You can get at the shift linkage bolt from the port side. Look closely. If you have that out you could have some stuck drive shaft splines.

Yeah, but would it come down 3 cm if the shaft splines were stuck?

You Americans....sounds like shift rod to me......always thought a centimeter was a 1/2"....by the time Obama is done with you, you won't know the alphabet....

Undo the gear cable from the motor and then get in there with a flat blade screwdriver, the only benefit of having another person there is to watch them get frustrated instead.
First put some bolts back in to take the weight of the gearbox off the shift rod

1/4 " drive tools and flex sockets with extensions work real good.
