We're replacing carpeting in a run-a-bout. The two pedestal seats are secured thru the floor with numerous fasteners, if these visible fasteners are removed to facilitate new carpet, what be becomes of the nuts, or whatever, under the plywood floor? The underside is not accessible. Are the nuts captive under there? Cutting the carpet around the pedestals would be very difficult...... What say yee?

Hard to say since we don't know what boat you're talking about & even if we did, w/out pix it'd be hard to guess what a previous owner did when mounting the seats.

Some are screwed thru to the plywood, not bolted

Some have captive T-nuts below the plywood

Some have a below deck plate that the bolts thru bolt into

Or a combination of the above............

Remove one of the screws and see what happens... there should be a captive "T" nut on the bottom, but there's no guarantee of that.
