I just purchased a 20 ft pontoon boat and would like to replace the skin attached to the railing. It appears it is slid into slots that are built into the top and bottom square tubing. I have removed the screw in snaps that screw into where the skin slides into the notch are for attaching the boat cover. I then pulled (as best I can) on the "skin" with no luck. I'm trying this on the front corner that is about 3 ft. with a 90 degree. If I am having trouble with this, I don't dare tackle the side/rear that is about 10 ft straight and then goes into a 90 degree corner.
I don't mind cutting down the center and pulling the "skin" out of the "channels" as long as I know the new stuff slide in. Another alternative is to cut the welds on the top and seperate the railing, but then I'm getting into more work (and money to pay a welder to reweld) than I think It's worth.
I should mention that there is some electrolisis in the boat that may have set up in the grooves and is interfering with pulling the "skin" out. Confising; there is electrolosis in the transom, and aluminum trim, but the pontoons appear very sound.
HELP? ? ?
Thanks for any help.
